Welcome to BeatID ("we", "our", or "us"). We are committed to protecting your personal information and your right to privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard your information when you use our iOS application and website (collectively, the "Service").

2. Information We Collect
2.1 Information You Provide
- Account information: Username or display name if you create an account.
- Contact information: Email address when you contact support.
- Gameplay data: Your guesses, scores, streaks, and challenge results.
2.2 Information Collected Automatically
- Device information: Device model, operating system version, unique device identifiers.
- Usage data: Features accessed, time spent in-app, crash reports, and diagnostic logs.
- Performance data: App load times and error events (collected via Apple's built-in analytics, if you have opted in to share with developers).
2.3 Music & Library Data
BeatID uses Apple MusicKit to access your Apple Music subscription status and play song snippets. See Section 5 for full details.
3. How We Use Your Information
We use the information we collect to:
- Provide, operate, and maintain the Service.
- Personalise your experience and deliver daily challenges tailored to your music taste.
- Calculate scores and maintain leaderboards.
- Improve, optimise, and develop new features.
- Respond to your comments, questions, and support requests.
- Monitor usage patterns to prevent abuse and ensure security.
- Comply with legal obligations.
We do not sell your personal data to third parties.
4. Sharing Your Information
We may share your information only in the following circumstances:
- Service providers: Trusted third-party vendors that assist us in operating the Service (e.g., cloud hosting, analytics), bound by confidentiality obligations.
- Legal requirements: If required by law, court order, or governmental authority.
- Business transfers: In connection with a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, with advance notice provided to you.
- With your consent: For any other purpose with your explicit consent.
5. Apple MusicKit & Music Data
BeatID integrates with Apple MusicKit to:
- Verify your Apple Music subscription status.
- Stream short song previews during gameplay.
- Optionally access your listening history to generate personalised challenges (requires your explicit permission).
Music playback and related data remain governed by Apple's Privacy Policy. We do not store audio files on our servers. BeatID only receives aggregate signals (e.g., "user has Apple Music subscription: yes/no") — we do not upload or store your full music library.
You can revoke MusicKit access at any time in Settings → Privacy & Security → Media & Apple Music on your iOS device.
6. Data Retention
We retain your personal information for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide the Service. You may request deletion of your account and associated data at any time by contacting hello@example.com. We will respond within 30 days.
Some information may be retained in anonymised or aggregated form for analytical purposes after account deletion.
7. Security
We implement industry-standard technical and organisational measures to protect your information, including encryption in transit (TLS) and at rest. However, no method of transmission over the internet is 100% secure. We cannot guarantee absolute security and encourage you to use a strong, unique password and keep your device updated.
8. Children's Privacy
BeatID is not directed to children under the age of 13 (or the applicable age of digital consent in your jurisdiction). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us personal data, please contact us immediately and we will delete it.
9. Your Rights
Depending on your location, you may have the following rights regarding your personal data:
- Access: Request a copy of the data we hold about you.
- Correction: Request correction of inaccurate data.
- Deletion: Request deletion of your personal data ("right to be forgotten").
- Portability: Request your data in a structured, machine-readable format.
- Objection: Object to certain types of processing.
- Opt-out: Opt out of any marketing communications at any time.
